I don't know how to begin this blog post because I feel like nothing I write will do this experience justice. This beautiful woman in these photographs is one of my very best friends, Cheryl. We have been friends for over 20 years now and it is amazing to see how much we have done together. In the early days, with our other partner in crime Kim, we went to the mall, rode horses, learned to drive, chased boys, and wrote enough old-school-paper-notebook-notes to endanger a forest. Life took us all on our own adventures, we went to different colleges in different states and then I moved to Maui while Cheryl chose to travel the world. After years separated by distance, we both ended up back in Colorado, where we both found jobs, husbands, houses and really started to make lives and grow roots.
It has been amazing watching Cheryl grow into a woman, wife, and now a mother. It's crazy to think that I just did a maternity session for the girl I shared my locker with in High School. We've been through so much and I can't tell you how excited I am to have a little nephew (I'm an only child, so I'm allowed to coin him as my nephew even though he's not a nephew by blood). Baby K will be here in August and I can't wait to meet him.
I really put a lot of pressure on myself to get these pictures right for Cheryl and in the end, I love how they turned out. It was a comfortable, in-home session and I feel like you can really see the love between Cheryl and John (and Larry the dog) in the images. Poor Larry, he's got a real shock right around the corner! He's not going to know what to do when he's not "the baby" anymore.
Cheryl and John, thank you for letting me document such a special time of your lives. I love you both and I know you will be amazing parents. I can't wait to meet Baby K and help out in any way that you need. Love you guys!
